FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR ENDORSEMENT APPLICATION

AC 61-65, provides examples of flight instructor endorsements required by regulations. Endorsements applicable to gliders are reproduced with appropriate FAR references on the attached sheet. Their application to specific flight instructor responsibilities is defined in the following table. Where multiple endorsements are required, they may be combined provided all applicable FAR references are stated.

NOTES: * Endorsement 6 (FAR 61.39 (a) (6)) is not required if the application form 8710 is signed "PROVIDED all appropriate FAR Part 61 requirements are substantiated by reliable records." Reliable records could include other log book endorsements and/or signature on the written test report. It is probably easier for everyone if endorsement 6 is used.

** Reference to FAR 61.185 (a) (1) in endorsement 12 is required only for initial instructor ratings. References to FAR 61.105 and 61.125 are not necessary if the log book already contains endorsements 8 and 10.

Recommending instructor requirements per FAR 61.193 (h) (24 months and 80 hrs experience) apply only to INITIAL flight instructor recommendations.

Applicants for practical tests must have at least one endorsement for type of launch.
